History

Ariel Laboratories, a Color Cosmetics Manufacturer, began with Owner and founder Peter Bohm. Ariel Laboratories’ doors were first opened in 1987 in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, as Imperial Cosmetics Services. Mr. Bohm’s background extends back to his days at Lavin Charles of the Ritz (Yves Saint Laurent, Arpege, My Sin, Jean Nate’, Alexandra de Markoff & Hermes) in their Research & Development Laboratories. Ritz, which was owned by E.R Squibb at that time, operated at very high levels of sophistication in their laboratory and color cosmetics manufacturing practices, which helped set the standard for Mr. Bohm’s operations.

In 1996, the company was sold to Kolmar Labs. As a subsidiary, it remained in operation under the Imperial Cosmetics name. Mr. Bohm continued with Kolmar on both its Senior Management Team and as Vice President of Business Development.

The name change to Ariel Laboratories was sparked by the return of Peter Bohm as Chemist and President, after having re-acquired the company from Kolmar Labs.
